Even in tough economic time like this it is important for people to make sure that they have time away from work and the other everyday stresses of life. A holiday is always a great way to spend time with friends and family, but it can be so hard to find the time and money to get away. Fortunately, the United Kingdom is full of places where you and your loved can visit on cheap holidays.

By taking your holiday closer to home, traveling expenses go way down, and you can always find last minute hotel deals if you do not have the time to plan. There are places full of history and magic and all of the natural beauty that you could ever want, along with great, low cost, dining options and places to stay while you are away from home.

In July, you can several great musicals, like the Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Les Miserables and many more. July is one of the warmest months in the UK and you should take advantage of the long days with a walk through the British countryside or by visiting some of the many free concerts that are held at some of the larger parks. For sporting events, you can purchase tickets to the Henley Royal Regatta, the Wimble tennis tournament, or even the British Open.

If you are an athletic bunch, ready to take to the scenery and exercise along with Mother Nature, then maybe mountain biking in Penrith is the perfect holiday for you. There are rolling hills and steep bike paths that can get your heart racing, or for something more leisurely, you can find an experienced guide that knows where to take beginners.

If you and your loved ones are looking for something less physical, perhaps you will enjoy visiting some of the many museums and art galleries that England has to offer. In London alone, you can visit the Natural History Museum, with its dinosaur exhibits for the kids and the Darwin Centre where you can learn more about the natural environment. For something more magical, you can visit the Roald Dahl Museum in Buckinghamshire or the wonderfully elegant townhouse in Bath, where Jane Austen lived.
